Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium is the World's Third Largest

Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium was opened on November 1, 2002 and is located in Japan within the Ocean Expo of the National Government Park. It was built because the number of tourist for the park was decreasing fast. It was believed that if a new aquarium was added it would bring the tourist back.

The Japanese people name the park Churaumi because it means beautiful or graceful in the Okinawan dialect and umi means ocean in Japanese. There are 80 Species of coral and deep sea creatures, sharks, white sharks, manta rays and tropical fish. Near the Aquarium there are Dolphins Shows and Manatees Exhibitions.

Okinawa is an Island with 1.4 Million plus people and it has a plan to increase the population by encouraging couples to have more children and to invite the ones who left the island to return.
