Georgia Aquarium is the World's Largest

In 2001 Bernard Marcus envisioned the World’s Largest Aquarium for Atlanta Georgia to encourage financial growth and to provide education to the community. He did his research and traveled 13 countries and observed 56 aquariums to the smallest detail.

Bernard proved how much he wanted an aquarium for Atlanta when he donated 250 million dollars and obtained donations of 40 million---so the aquarium could open without obligation---it was debt free.

Jeffery Scott Swanagan was responsible for most of the aquarium’s creation and design. His resume included other aquariums and zoos of which he was the American Director. His brilliance of the Georgia Aquarium has been recognized many times over as millions visit each year.

After over two years of construction the Georgia Aquarium opened on November 21, 2005. It was built on land donated by the Coca-Cola Company. The aquarium building covers 13 acres and hold 8,000,000 of fresh and salt water.

Today it has over 120,000 fish, sea creatures and 500 plus different species. The physical address of the Aquarium is 225 Baker Street and hours are Sunday---Friday 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Always check for “Holiday Hours” which may be different. Everyone who visits goes through a security check so everyone should feel very safe with their families. I know I am glad to know this information ahead of time.

Thanks to these two great visionaries Bernard Marcus and Jeffery Scott Swanagan  we have an amazing Aquarium to visit and enjoy for many decades to come.
